Poll: Moore +5.7 in Alabama Senate Race
In our latest poll commissioned by Decision Desk HQ, Republican candidate Roy Moore leads Democratic candidate Doug Jones by just over five points, contrary to typical expectations in Alabama.
Doug Jones is picking up support in reliable places: younger voters, African-Americans, and urban voters form the core of his support. Less predictably, Jones is likewise winning over independents, with 60% opting for Jones over Moore. It’s also worth noting that while the undecided factor among independents remains high, the total undecided vote is remarkably low for a race that remains three months away.
While Trump endorsed Luther Strange in the Republican primary runoff, his overall approval in Alabama stands predictably solid at +11%
Elsewhere in the poll, we found that 56% of Alabama voters oppose the removal of Confederate memorials, with 46% favoring removal. Similarly, 55% of Alabama voters disapprove of NFL players kneeling during the national anthem, with 42% supporting players who kneel.
