Poll: Trump Approval 43%; Majority Support Impeachment
In our latest poll conducted on behalf of Bold Media, President Donald Trump saw poor marks for both his job performance, as well as his response to the Charlottesville protests.
Only 35% of respondents indicated that they strongly approve of the President’s job performance, while 51% said they strongly disapprove. Among Republicans, Trump maintains significant support, with 76% indicating overall approval.
Trump’s comments regarding “fine people on both sides” of the Charlottesville protest received overwhelming disapproval:

Given the trending topic of impeachment on social media over the past week, we decided to test support levels for impeachment directly:
A full 20% of Republicans support impeachment to some degree, with Democrats presenting a relatively unified 88% support for impeachment. Independents support impeachment by a slim margin, 49% to 47%.
When asked if a hypothetical race between Donald Trump and a Democratic challenger were held today, the generic challenger lead the presidential race by 11 points:

Vice President Pence performed almost identically among respondents, and both the President and Vice President performed well in 2020 primary match-ups among Republicans.
We likewise tested both the relatively well known “alt-right,” as well as the newly coined “alt-left” for levels of approval. While a majority strongly disapprove of both subgroups, nearly 25% of respondents held a positive view of the “alt-left,” compared to 10% for the “alt-right.”
