Poll: Dead Heat in Georgia

Aug 18, 2016 | Posted by MT | Uncategorized |

In our latest poll of likely Georgia voters, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are tied in the race for President.

The toplines:

Clinton 43%
Trump 43%
Johnson 11%
Undecided 3%

730 respondents answered the poll, carrying a margin of error of +/- 3.6%. The results are very similar to our latest poll in Florida, where Clinton led by 1%.

Elsewhere in the crosstabs, we see that…

Clinton wins: Trump wins:
Minority voters (all of them) White voters
<45 YO cohorts >45 YO cohorts
Women Men
84% of Democrats 76% of Republicans
37% of Independents 36% of Independents
Metro Atlanta All other regions

Johnson had a particularly solid showing in this poll, garnering 11% of the total vote and 25% of independents.

We also asked Georgians whether they believe the election could be “rigged.” The results were surprising:

What do you believe is the likelihood that the US presidential election could be “rigged,” where one candidate is declared the winner of a state, when in reality the opposing candidate received more votes?
Likely 47%
Unlikely 37%
Unsure 16%

While it is extremely unlikely that a presidential election would be rigged in any way, voters nonetheless are skeptical, likely thanks in part to Donald Trump’s recent insinuations.
