Poll: Cruz Leads in TX; Trump in GA
This weekend we polled both Texas and Georgia for the Republican primary on Tuesday.
In Texas, Cruz leads Trump by 11 points, with Rubio trailing Trump by six. While Trump has gained some momentum in Texas, we expect that he will trail Cruz by at least seven points in the final vote. This survey was conducted in both English and Spanish, with roughly one half of all Hispanic or Latino voters completing the survey in Spanish. Among early voters the spread shows a closer race, with Cruz ahead of Trump by only six points. Among evangelical voters Cruz bests Trump by over 20 points, while among non-evangelicals Trump wins over Rubio by about three points.
Little has changed in Georgia over the past week, especially for the Trump campaign. The fight for second is stronger between Rubio and Cruz, who are deadlocked in our latest poll. Cruz owes this recent bump to voters under 45, who have warmed very slightly to the Texas senator.
