Poll: Moore Leads Strange in Alabama Senate Runoff
Our latest poll – sponsored by Decision Desk HQ – shows former Alabama Supreme Court justice Roy Moore with a commanding 18-point lead over interim Alabama Senator Luther Strange in the runoff to secure the Republican nomination:
|Moore vs. Strange|
While the two candidates finished the primary within six points of one another, Moore appears to have consolidated practically all outstanding Republican votes. Notably, Moore’s evangelical messaging clearly resonates with Alabama Republicans, with 58% of those identifying as evangelical Christians opting for Moore. While the undecided factor remains relatively large, it is unlikely that Strange will be able to catch up with the election looming just one month away.
Each candidate’s favorability mirrors the horserace results, with Moore reaching +21% and Strange underwater at -6%:
|Never heard of||1.3%|
|Never heard of||1.6%|
Trump’s approval rating among Republicans in Alabama is predictably high, though this approval hasn’t translated to support for Trump-endorsed Strange.
